I’ve always associated the mythic river of forgetting with times of enslavement, because of the letters between Lethe Jackson and Hannah Valentine of Abingdon, Virginia; and the historic plantation on the Lethe River, nine miles from Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Forgetting is impossible.
